Taylor Lindsey has secured planning permission to develop drive-thru restaurants for Costa and KFC at Teal Park. The new buildings will occupy a prominent position on the Whisby Road frontage, at the site entrance, opposite the Jaguar Land Rover dealership.
Taylor Lindsey had extensively canvassed the local business community in the surrounding area and had collected 500 signatures in support of the proposals. These were submitted to the planning authority to show the level of support for the application. Social media comments also showed strong public support for the proposals.
The development will comprise an 1,800 sq ft Costa coffee shop and a 2,500 sq ft KFC restaurant. Both will have drive-thru lanes and extensive indoor and outdoor seating areas set in a site with ample parking and attractive landscaping.
Dan Race, Development Director with Taylor Lindsey, said: “we were delighted to secure planning permission for this important gateway development; this will create 50 new jobs and bring activity and vibrancy to Teal Park”. He added: “We have been unable to progress development at Teal Park for the last three years as we have been waiting for Western Power to deliver a major power supply upgrade to increase capacity in the south west of Lincoln. We are still about a year away from having the power for this development, but we can now start to make preparations for construction so that we can quickly commence building when the power becomes available.”
