True Grit!

Taylor Lindsey have now completed the new depot on Stephenson Way, Brunel Park, Newark, on behalf of Costain Group 5 weeks ahead of schedule.

The construction of the salt barn, garage and offices has been developed in consultation with the Costain Group to enable effective management of the 1.6 acre site and its operation. It is located on this established Industrial Estate / Business Park which is strategically situated next to the A1 and its junction to the A46.

Costain, Halcrow and Colas joint venture have secured a £220 million contract for the Highways Agency commencing on 1st July 2009. Work will cover a range of operational and routine maintenance services and deliver improvements on the motorways and trunk roads in the East Midlands. Costain chief executive Andrew Wyllie said: “The award of this important five year contract reflects our continuing strategic focus on major “blue chip” customers and reinforces Costain’s position as a leading player in the construction and maintenance of highways in the UK.”

The depot will provide employment for around 25 full time staff.

Martin Burdes of Costain Group said “I think overall things have gone very well indeed and the Joint Venture is pleased with the finished product and the whole process that led to completion.
